TKD for kids
Student
Eligibility
Each and every student must be evaluated before
enrollment consideration. This evaluation takes into consideration a
number of factors before establishing eligibility.
The student’s
attention skills, listening skills, and enthusiasm are taken into
consideration. In addition, parental enthusiasm and support are also
considered. It is important to note, that martial arts training is a
personal development program that teaches life-skill development.
Therefore, it is not for everyone.
Students or parents looking for a
playground type activity or no structured program need not apply.
Only serious students will be considered.
Class Schedules
We recommend that students attend classes twice a
week. This schedule creates a repetition pattern that helps students
advance along our core curriculum at a comfortable pace. Class times
are 45 minutes in length. In addition, private tutoring is available
for students who miss class time or who need extra help.
Program Benefits
Students learn a number of benefits in our program.
Discipline, self confidence, self esteem, and improved academic
standing are just a few of the many benefits students achieve. In
addition, other benefits are accomplished through our training they
include;
Role Model Development
Students in our program develop social skills with
other students who are interested in achieving the same goals. Since
parents are concerned about role models, you can be assured that all
students here at U.S. Tae Kwon Do College are encouraged and
supported by their parents as well. During the course of your
child’s study here, you will meet them and feel comfortable
regarding your child’s social interaction with other students. In
addition, our instructors here at U.S. Tae Kwon Do College maintain
a strict code of ethics and display exemplary behavior themselves.
Academic
Development
Student’s academic progress is closely monitored
here at U.S. Tae Kwon Do College.
Students are required to turn in a
copy of their report card to the head instructor. We work closely
with all school systems and parents in an effort to help students
achieve better grades. In addition, we are proud to have our own
honor roll for the Students. Students who achieve honor roll status
with us are rewarded through various incentive programs offered by
the school.
Personal Development
By placing students in the right environment, their
true learning potential can be realized.
Our belt promotion
curriculum combines goal orientation with other learning dynamics to
help develop their character. We know that students who feel good
about themselves lead healthier, happier lives. This process happens
repeatedly through belt promotions and recognition.
Character Development
Our students learn values and attributes related to
strong moral character. Qualities make up character. Our students
learn discipline, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control,
and indomitable spirit. These are the five tenets of Tae Kwon Do. We
focus on the development of these qualities repetitively. Without
question, students must learn these fundamental qualities early on
in life in order to develop strong values. A well rounded child will
ultimately have development in all of these areas.
Physical Development
Physical Development is a critical component to the
development of any child. Martial Arts is an activity which also
enhances physical development. Strength, coordination, flexibility,
and balance are just a few of the benefits they will receive. Most
important of which is the art of self defense, in which the student
will become confident of their own physical ability. This will make
him/her an unlikely target for aggressive or “bully” type children.
It is very important that a child feel secure with their own natural
survival instincts.
Children
with Learning Challenges
Behavioral specialists, as well as child
psychologists all agree that Martial Arts programs help the
development of children with ADD or ADHD as well as other discipline
challenges. Because children are required to pay close attention to
the program in order to comprehend, these various learning
challenges are met head on by ongoing training. Students who have
these challenges perform extremely well because of the learning
environment. The reason for this is the personalized attention.
Parental Involvement
As a parent considering this program, the key
element is your motivation. Unfortunately, children at a young age
do not know what is good for them. It is the parent’s responsibility
to seek and find the right type of developmental programs for their
children. Martial arts training provides the edge in many areas of a
child’s development. You as a parent, will get to see what we do for
your child right in front of your eyes. We believe that your effort
and our effort together create a winning combination.
The Next Step
The next step is to arrange for an evaluation for
the child. Contact the Program Director or make an appointment.
Remember, we require both parents there for evaluation (in the case
of a single parent, the custodial parent.)
How Do I Know My Child Is Ready?
We will be able to determine the child’s eligibility
through our evaluation process. Keep in mind 90% of their success
will be related to your support and determination about the program.
What is important to you will become important to the child.
